...you could just feel the spirit so strong.

October 18, 2010

Hey Family,

Well it's been an eventful week.  We still don't have many solid investigators but when we were visiting with a guy named Matt last night he asked us if we would start teaching him the lessons again, he had already taken all of the lessons but that was a little while ago, so we told him yes of course so that made my day pretty good.

So the bishop did tell me that he called you guys and talked to you for a bit.  He did take us out to lunch this week and he ordered us Sushi cause i told him that i had never had it before.  We tried three different kinds.  Two types of Tuna and then some eel.  It actually wasn't too bad.  I really liked the eel and one of the tuna ones, i don't know if i would ever order it myself though.  After we ate the sushi he let us order something off the menu so i thought i would keep the streak alive and order something i hadn't tried before so i ordered some fried squid...it was just to rubbery for me.  Tasted just fine but just too rubbery.

I do have another funny story for ya.  We went on exchanges with our Zone Leaders this week so i spent a day with one of them up in Coos Bay.  While we were up there we were doing a little tracting and we got to the last apartment and were talking to this lady when this little kid like eight years old comes up and starts being super annoying, we tried to ignore him but that only made it worse, he started to slap us and kick us and finally when we were done talking to the lady i turned to him and asked him if he had read the bible at all. He said yes and i asked him if i could tell him a story from the bible he said sure.  So i told him the story about the kids that were bugging the prophet and how he sent the two bears after them and they eat them.  After that we just walked away.  I don't think he took it that seriously but it made me feel better.

I did have a cool experience yesterday at church.  After sacrament meeting me and my companion were in the halls when one of the members asks us if we would give him a blessing because he hadn't been feeling good lately and it wasn't getting any better. Of course he asks me if i would be the one to give the blessing.  I don't remember a word i said but you could just feel the spirit so strong.  I am so glad that i am out here.  I've already learned so much and can't wait to get some more solid investigators to be able to teach more.  The ward is amazing.  Everyone is so willing to help the missionaries out whenever we need people to go on splits with or whenever we need anything they are always there.

I started the true to the faith book a couple days ago and finished it yesterday and one thing that really stuck out to me while i was reading was the little bit about sacrifice,  it says the blessings we receive are always greater then what we give up.  I just really liked that it makes you realize that it's always worth it to do what the lord has asked you to do.

Love you guys hope you're having a great time back home.  I can't believe i missed tanner getting his wisdom teeth out i mean come there are some things you need the whole family there for.  Great job on your soccer season Sam keep it up.  Daniel it sounds like your spending a lot of time over at grandpa's.....Someone has to do it.  Hope you guys have a great week. Love ya tons.

Love Elder Stephenson
