We got five new potential investigators this week...

November 30, 2010

Hey Family

Well it has been one crazy awesome week.  We woke up on Tuesday morning and we had about three inches of snow!!! It was so cool.  They said this is the first time any of them can remember that we got snow before Thanksgiving.  So I’m hoping for a little more snow this winter but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.  Well Thanksgiving was great we went to a members house had your typical Thanksgiving dinner.  We also got to watch a movie.  We chose to watch How To Train Your Dragon, even though I had already seen it; I think it is my favorite animated movie ever.

Anyway, we went over to Coos Bay this Friday again because we had interviews with the President.  They went really well and it was good to get to know him and his wife a little better.  So this past week we made a goal as a district to start talking to more people on the streets.  Our goal this week was fifty, we were a little behind so yesterday we spent a couple hours working on it and we ended up talking to about thirty people.  Which isn't as good as Chad’s 87, or whatever it was, but I was still pretty happy about it.

We got five new potential investigators this week so we'll be dropping by on them in the next couple days and seeing if they really did want to learn more.  It has been a great week though and I’m super excited about teaching these new people.  I also thought I should mention this to you.  During our interviews with President he told me and my companion that he would probably be transferred to another area and that I would take over this area for at least one transfer so I thought that was pretty cool.  I don't really know if that's a good idea for me to take over an area yet but I guess he knows more than me.  So ya I’ll be in Florence at least to the beginning of February.

So we have been splitting up time between Reedsport and Florence.  We usually spend three days in Reedsport and four days in Florence.  We switch off every other weekend.  We had Samantha come to church this week.  We are going to talk with her mom this week and see how her fear of putting her head under water is coming along so hopefully we can set a date with her in the next little while.  Other than her we didn't have anyone else show up to church.

There is a district meeting once a week but since we are so far away we only go to about half of them. We are actually spending P-day with the rest of our district today so that is pretty cool. I'll write you next week and tell you what we did.  I don't think that there is anything that I need you to send me.  I gets a little chilly walking around but that just comes with the missionary work.  You should ask your friend if I can send my package back with her so that I don't have to mail it. If not don't worry I’ll just mail it.

So Grandpa thinks I’m gaining weight huh?  Well the answer is kind of yes and no.  As you very well know my eating habits weren't the best before I left and I weighed one thirty five the day I left.  Well now that I’ve started to eat a little healthier meaning I eat three meals a day and for the most part they are pretty healthy, I’ve gained some weight.  I know weigh about one fifty three.  But I gained that in the first month and now I haven't gained any more so I’m thinking that I should have weighed about one fifty before I left on the mission but o well.

I do have a pretty funny story for you.  My pants did start to get a little tighter, not to tight but just enough to put a little stress on the button and sure enough a couple weeks ago one of my buttons popped off, I must say for never having sewed on a button before I did pretty good.

So Matt is trying to make you all Duck fans?  Well good!  I’m sure you know that they are currently number one in the nation.  It is pretty funny how many die hard fans there are in a couple little towns.  When there is a game on you pretty much can't do anything because when you knock on a door they yell at you to leave them alone because the game is on.  So what we try to do is we can usually see there TV from the front window so we watch it and wait for a commercial and then knock on the door....it doesn't help much but they don't yell as much.

Well I hope all is going well back home.  It sounds like you all had a fun Thanksgiving.  I wish I could have been in on the dam jokes, I know quite a few. I'm sure you came up with most of them though.  Well that’s about all I have this week for ya.  Sorry if I left anything out, it’s hard to remember everything that I need to write in an email but I’m pretty sure I got most of it.  Love you guys ton hope you have a great week.
